Insanity - doing the same thing over and over again...

If insanity is to do the same thing over and over again whilst expecting different results, why not try changing things up?
Are you stuck in the same mundane workout routine? Not enjoying it, not seeing results but persisting anyway...?
Maybe it's time to mix things up to start getting different results. Making even a few small changes can have a big effect on you both mentally and physically.
Here's a few suggestions for you:
Bored of doing long sessions on the treadmill? Try adding intervals. Beginners try 1 min fast jog/walk, 2 mins steady for 15 mins. More advanced? Try 30 sec sprint, 90 sec recovery jog x10.
You're cardio mad but need more muscle definition? Try adding weight training into your workouts.
Can't make it to the gym? Buy a kettlebell to do home workouts without having to leave your house!
Keep promising yourself you'll get up early to do that workout but it's just not happening? Find a workout partner or a group class so that you can get something booked in the diary that you can't miss, no matter how comfy your duvet is!
Doing the same workout every time you go to the gym? Try either booking into a class, booking a personal training session or looking online for inspiration.
Lacking energy pre/post workout? Try a coffee 30 mins before your workout then post workout recover with a protein shake to help curb your hunger and repair your muscles for your next workout.
Bored of sitting on gym machines just going through the motions? Try using free-weights such as barbells and dumbbells to do big compound exercises such as deadlifts, chest press and squats.
Never have time to make your lunch and fed up of picking up the first thing you find to cure your hunger? Try getting into the habit of making an extra portion at dinner time to have for your lunch the next day.
Simply just fed up of the gym? Try joining a team/club/playing a sport to help with your motivation.
Just never have time to fit in your workouts as life gets in the way? Try scheduling your workouts in advance. Put them in your diary. Make them commitments that can’t be moved and changed. Put them in your work diary if necessary so that meetings don't get in the way.
