With the new year fast approaching many people are thinking about their new year's resolutions. Below are ten health & fitness related resolutions / new habits that you may want to consider.
Drink at least 2 litres of water per day.
Get at least 7 hours sleep.
Switch from margarine to butter (preferably grass-fed butter such as Kerry Gold).
Switch vegetable oils in favour of more nutrient dense oils such as coconut oil for cooking and olive oil for dressings.
Set yourself realistic workout targets and schedule them in your diary at the start of the week. Make these non-negotiable!
Find exercise which you actually enjoy doing! Ideally you should look forward to your workouts.
Get into the habit of planning your meals in advance – try batch cooking and freezing portions so that you have your own handy ready meals to hand when you are in a rush.
Aim to try new recipes. If you aren’t enjoying your healthy food then it won’t be maintainable and by adding variety you are less likely to get bored of your diet and it will also ensure that you consume a wide variety of nutrients.
Set yourself mini challenges to help motivate you. These could be body composition goals or achievement goals such as running a 10km, doing a handstand or a pull up or improving your plank time.
Try writing a food diary or taking pictures of everything you eat during January. This will give you a greater insight into what you are actually consuming!
Whatever goals you chose make sure they are achievable and make sure you have the list where you can see it on a daily basis to remind you of your resolutions.
