Try cooking with coconut oil

Coconut oil is a solid fat at room temperature and although it is largely composed of saturated fats it has been linked to a whole host of health benefits. It is thought to assist in weight loss - increasing the body’s metabolism and increasing satiety. Coconut oil has been linked to improving the immune system, helping the body cope with viruses and bacteria. The lauric acid in coconut oil is also thought to be good for your heart, helping to prevent conditions such as high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

 

So how to use it… since coconut oil is more stable at high temperatures (and therefore the health benefits are not destroyed with heat) when you are next cooking try using it instead of olive oil. It adds a distinctive flavour to your food and I particularly like using it when making scrambled eggs.
